The Blue & White Forest Special

Here are two of our most favorite blue and white naturalizing mixtures, ideally suited for well-walked, sun-dappled woodlands. Normally, one might think of planting Muscari in a proper garden bed, or like a river or a connecting element between beds. Yet the Keukenhof premiered a wonderful mixture of Muscari as well as clusters of blended Hyacinthoides hispanica Excelsior and White City in woodland pathside borders that were graced with dappled sunlight. Absolutely enchanting.

• 100 Hyacinthoides hispanica Delft Mixture: Equal parts of Hyacinthoides hispanica Excelsior and White City. Bulb size: 8 cm/up. Bloom time: May. Plant 4” deep and 4” to 4” apart. 12" to 15" tall.
• 500 Magical Muscari Mixture: A balanced blend of Muscari armeniacum, Siberian Tiger and Valerie Finnis and Muscari latifolium. Bulb size: 6 to 9 cm. Bloom time: April/May. Plant 5” deep and 3” to 4” apart. 6” tall.
